A 200-meter stretch of Phan Dinh Phung, one of Da Lat’s busiest streets, was submerged, forcing motorbikes and cars to wade through water.
Several vehicles stalled and had to be pushed, while residents rushed to raise furniture to prevent damage.
Locals said the downpour began early in the afternoon and intensified, overwhelming the drainage system
Within 30 minutes, water rose to half the height of motorbike wheels.
Many residents complained the area is prone to flooding whenever heavy rain lasts more than a few minutes.
Authorities dispatched traffic police to redirect vehicles and mobilized drainage teams to clear sewers and limit prolonged flooding.
Other neighborhoods along Cam Ly stream, including Lu Gia and To Ngoc Van, also saw quick but intense inundation that caught households unprepared.
The administration of Xuan Huong Ward said the flooding was caused by rainwater backing up into the Cam Ly stream.
The incident subsided quickly and was not expected to affect Da Lat’s tourism activities.
