Panama-flagged ship brings 4,000 international tourists to Vietnam's Nha Trang

On Monday, a representative of the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism said that the Panama-flagged international cruise ship Adora Magic City docked at Cam Ranh International Port in Bac Cam Ranh Ward, Khanh Hoa Province that morning.

The ship brought 4,000 tourists from Shenzhen, China, to Nha Trang in south-central Vietnam for sightseeing and leisure.

Passengers aboard the Adora Magic City are scheduled to visit and experience local attractions, including Po Nagar Cham Towers, Long Son Pagoda, Nha Trang Stone Church, I-Resort, Champa Island, Dam Market, Tram Huong Tower Square, and Nha Trang Beach Park, as well as sample traditional dishes from Nha Trang and Khanh Hoa.

Since the beginning of 2026, Khanh Hoa has welcomed more than 32 international cruise ships, with 48,701 passengers going ashore to visit the province. 

The locality is expected to receive another 18 international cruise ships by the end of the year.

The return of international cruise arrivals is seen as a positive sign for Khanh Hoa's tourism industry as the province steps up destination promotion and diversifies its tourism products.

Tourism activity more broadly has also shown strong growth in Khanh Hoa this year.

Cung Quynh Anh, deputy director of the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said the province welcomed 25 cruise ships carrying more than 30,000 passengers in 2025.

With its experience serving international visitors in recent years, Khanh Hoa's tourism sector is well positioned to welcome a larger number of international cruise passengers in 2026, he said.

"Cruise passengers are particularly interested in ecotourism, cultural tourism and craft villages. Therefore, we will focus on further improving the quality of these tourism products," Anh said.

Meanwhile, a leader of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism said Khanh Hoa needs to invest in and upgrade tourism infrastructure, including developing a dedicated cruise terminal in Nha Trang, to further enhance the province's tourism sector.

"International cruise ships bring more than revenue from the services used by passengers. Cruise tourists are also tourism ambassadors who help promote Khanh Hoa's land and people to the international community," the official said.

In the long term, Khanh Hoa should move quickly to develop a dedicated cruise terminal to facilitate cruise ship arrivals and enhance the province's competitiveness as a tourism destination.
