The traffic police division of the provincial Department of Public Security said on Wednesday that officers had detected signs of a traffic safety violation case involving a passenger bus traveling on National Highway 47 in Trieu Son Commune through the vehicle tracking and journey monitoring system.
Traffic police subsequently verified the case and summoned the driver, identified as L.V.V., a 39-year-old resident of Trieu Son Commune, for questioning.
The investigation determined that V. had committed two violations, including failing to wear a seatbelt while driving on the road, and holding and using a mobile phone while the vehicle was in motion.
He was fined a total of VND5.9 million (US$227) and had four points deducted from his driving licence.
The division said the use of tracking and journey monitoring data to detect, verify and handle violations helps officers take a more proactive approach to maintaining traffic order and safety.
The system enables dangerous driving behaviour to be detected at an early stage and dealt with promptly, rather than relying solely on violations being caught directly by officers on the road.
Traffic police urge all drivers, particularly those engaged in passenger transport services, to strictly comply with road traffic regulations.
Drivers are advised never to use mobile phones while driving and to take all necessary safety measures throughout their journeys.
