Vietnam prosecutes store owner over counterfeit Hermès, Dior, Gucci, Adidas goods
A shop owner in Hung Yen Province, northern Vietnam, has been prosecuted after police found more than 400 pairs of footwear suspected of bearing counterfeit Hermès, Dior and Gucci trademarks and 125 sets of clothing allegedly bearing the counterfeit Adidas trademark that were being offered for sale at his store.
Provincial police said on Saturday that they had initiated a criminal investigation and charged Nguyen Van Duong, born in 2000 and residing in Than Khe Commune, with industrial property rights infringement.
The case followed an inspection of the Duong Dolce store in Hung Ha Commune, operated by Duong as a household business, by a team comprising local police officers and officials from the provincial Market Surveillance Sub-Department.

The team found 270 pairs of slippers bearing the Hermès logo, 12 pairs of Dior-branded shoes, eight pairs of Gucci-branded shoes, and 125 sets of Adidas clothing, all suspected of being counterfeit.
The goods had a total listed value of VND222.6 million (US$8,500).
Police are continuing to probe the case.

A similar case recently occurred in Thai Nguyen Province, also in northern Vietnam, where local police charged Nguyen Van Duy, born in 2000, with infringing industrial property rights for allegedly selling 974 counterfeit clothing items bearing the Adidas, Louis Vuitton and Dior trademarks, valued at more than VND330 million (US$12,500).
