Vingroup, Vietnam's largest private conglomerate, reported record after-tax profit of nearly US$1.7 billion in the first nine months of 2026, nearly six times the figure recorded a year earlier, according to the group's third-quarter consolidated financial statements.

The record profit was strongly backed by the conglomerate's net revenue of VND372.5 trillion ($14.50 billion) during the January-September period, 2.2 times higher than in the same period last year.

Vingroup said revenue growth was driven mainly by its electric vehicle and real estate businesses, helping lift its after-tax profit to VND43.7 trillion (nearly $1.7 billion), 25 percent above its full-year profit target.

In the electric vehicle segment, VinFast delivered 211,242 cars worldwide in the first nine months, up 91 percent year on year, including 177,697 vehicles in Vietnam, a 71 percent increase.

The automaker also delivered more than 710,000 electric motorbikes through September, three times the figure recorded in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, Vinpearl generated revenue of VND10.7 trillion ($416.65 million) in the first nine months, up 19 percent year on year.

Its hotel occupancy rate averaged 64 percent, an increase of nine percentage points, while the average room rate reached VND2.95 million ($115) per night, up 12 percent year on year.

As of September 30, Vingroup's total assets stood at approximately VND1.6 quadrillion ($62.30 billion), up 44.8 percent from the beginning of the year.

Cash, cash equivalents and short-term financial investments totaled VND106.8 trillion ($4.16 billion).

The group said it had raised more than $2.3 billion over the past 12 months through international bond issuances, preferred shares and syndicated loans from international investors and financial institutions.

Among Vingroup's arms, Vinhomes, a major real estate firm, also reported strong results, with net revenue of VND202.586 trillion ($7.89 billion) in the first nine months, up 302 percent year on year.

Its after-tax profit reached VND75.059 trillion ($2.92 billion), a 390 percent increase from the same period last year and 25 percent above its full-year profit target.
