Traffic restrictions imposed on central roads for Ho Chi Minh City Marathon 2026 from January 9

Ho Chi Minh City’s Traffic Police Department (PC08) has announced traffic adjustments on several central roads to facilitate the Ho Chi Minh City Marathon 2026, which will take place on January 11.

To ensure traffic safety and order during the event, PC08 released the following notice:

From 12:00 am on January 9 to 12:00 am on January 12: All vehicles will be temporarily barred from Le Duan Street, including the sections from Nam Ky Khoi Nghia to Pasteur and from Pasteur to Cong Xa Paris in Saigon Ward.

Alternative routes: Commuters can use Han Thuyen – Cong Xa Paris – Le Duan or Alexandre de Rhodes – Pham Ngoc Thach – Le Duan to bypass the restricted sections.

On main day

During the race day on January 11, to ensure smooth traffic flow in the morning and avoid the marathon area, residents are advised to use the following detours:

Route 1: Le Loi – Pasteur – Nguyen Du – Cach Mang Thang Tam – Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, heading toward Ban Co, Cho Quan, An Dong Wards; or Cach Mang Thang Tam – Nguyen Thi Nghia – Nguyen Thai Hoc – Ong Lanh Bridge, toward Khanh Hoi, Vinh Hoi, Xom Chieu, Tan Hung, Tan My Wards.

Route 2: Pasteur – Nguyen Du – Truong Dinh – Dien Bien Phu, toward Xuan Hoa, Nhieu Loc, Tan Dinh, Gia Dinh, Cau Kieu, Phu Nhuan, and Tan Son Nhat Wards.

On Vo Van Kiet Avenue (the mixed-use lane along the river), from Nguyen Van Cu Street to the Saigon River tunnel:

From 3:00 am to 9:30 am on January 11: Two-wheeled vehicles will be temporarily prohibited from using the riverside mixed-use lane in the direction toward the tunnel.

Alternative routes: Commuters should turn onto connecting roads leading to Tran Hung Dao Street (via An Binh, Huynh Man Dat, Nguyen Van Cu Streets, among others) to continue traveling toward central areas.

On roads along the marathon routes, traffic will be restricted during race hours. Vehicles may use remaining lanes and must follow instructions from authorities and on-duty personnel to ensure traffic safety.

Marathon (42.195km):

Start/finish: April 30 Park, Le Duan Street, Saigon Ward

Start time: 3:00 am, January 11 (Sunday)

Cut-off time: 9:30 am

Half Marathon (21km):

Start/finish: April 30 Park, Le Duan Street

Start time: 3:30 am, January 11 (Sunday)

Cut-off time: 7:00 am

10km race:

Start/finish: April 30 Park, Le Duan Street

Start time: 4:15 am, January 11 (Sunday)

Cut-off time: 6:15 am

PC08 advised commuters traveling near the marathon area to slow down and strictly follow instructions from traffic police, on-duty forces, and road signage.

Depending on actual traffic conditions, PC08 will deploy forces to adjust traffic diversions as appropriate, aiming to minimize disruption to residents’ daily travel in and around the event area.
