More than 220,000 iPhone 18 orders placed in Vietnam, 90% opt for Pro Max

The iPhone 18 pre-order period at Apple authorized resellers (AARs) in Vietnam has been bustling in recent days.

A survey of major retail chains showed that consumer demand and interest in the new lineup have grown significantly compared with the previous generation.

Apple unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on September 9, with pre-orders in Vietnam opening at 5am PT on September 12. The phones will be available from September 18.

Pre-orders surge within first minutes

At TopZone, more than 197,000 customers had placed orders as of the afternoon of September 14, with nearly 179,000 having completed their deposits.

CellphoneS also saw strong demand. Within the first 15 minutes after pre-orders opened, the retailer recorded more than 10,000 successful deposits, up 40 percent from the same period last year.

“Since we started providing information about the new phones, nearly 40,000 customers have registered early for information about the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max,” a CellphoneS representative said. “The number continues to rise and shows no sign of slowing down.”

The retail chain also expressed confidence that it would be able to deliver the phones early to customers who successfully placed deposits in the first few days.

Meanwhile, Di Dong Viet had recorded 32,261 deposits as of 10am on September 14, after more than 25,000 customers had registered to receive information before pre-orders opened.

At Minh Tuan Mobile, preliminary figures after the first day of pre-orders showed that interest in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max had increased by about 12 percent from the same period last year, signaling strong demand for the year-end shopping season.

iPhone 18 Pro Max dominates as burgundy sparks craze

Vietnamese consumers' preference for the highest-end version was once again clearly reflected in the figures.

Nguyen Nhu Thanh, deputy director of the Apple product category at FPT Shop, said the iPhone 18 Pro Max is currently the most popular version, accounting for about 94 percent of total deposits for the Pro lineup.

The trend is similar at TopZone, where Pro Max models account for 90 percent of customer selections, followed by 85 percent at Di Dong Viet and 79 percent at 24hStore, equivalent to about 5,400 registrations.

Besides the popularity of the Pro Max, the 256GB version remains the preferred choice for most users, accounting for 76 percent of selections at Di Dong Viet.

It also leads the list of orders at FPT Shop, TopZone, Minh Tuan Mobile and 24hStore, where it has attracted 4,150 registrations.

The 256GB capacity is considered a suitable option for users' long-term storage needs while offering the best balance in terms of cost.

As for colors, this year's new burgundy option has created a strong buzz in the market.

At Di Dong Việt, burgundy accounts for about 67 percent of Pro Max selections and 54 percent of Pro selections.

Glacier ranks second, accounting for 24 percent of Pro Max selections and 33 percent of Pro selections, while the remainder is split between the traditional black and silver options.

At 24hStore, burgundy accounts for more than 50 percent of total interest, with 3,480 registrations.

The burgundy iPhone 18 Pro Max 256GB is the most-ordered configuration across the entire chain.

Explaining the appeal of the color, Anh Hong, marketing director of 24hStore, said burgundy is creating a strong effect because of its high level of brand recognition.

“Users upgrading to a new phone tend to choose the signature color of the year to stand out,” she said.
